Visiting Teaching Song

ENTHUSIASM SONG
(tune: “If You’re Happy”)

When I do my Visiting Teaching I will drive.
(make driving motions in the air)
When I do my Visiting Teaching I will drive.
I’ll see my Visiting Teaching through
No matter what I have to do.
When I do my Visiting Teaching I will drive.

If my car is in the shop I’ll hitch a ride.
(hitch-hiking motion)
If my car is in the shop I’ll hitch a ride.
I’ll see my Visiting Teaching through
No matter what I have to do.
If my car is in the shop I’ll hitch a ride.

If I cannot find a ride then I will jog.
(jog in place)
If I cannot find a ride then I will jog.
I’ll see my Visiting Teaching through
No matter what I have to do.
If I cannot find a ride then I will jog.

If I happen to break a leg then I will hop.
(hop twice on one foot)
If I happen to break a leg then I will hop.
I’ll see my Visiting Teaching through
No matter what I have to do.
If I happen to break a leg then I will hop.

If I break both of my legs then I will roll.
(one complete turn to the right or roll arms over each other)
If I break both of my legs then I will roll.
I’ll see my Visiting Teaching through
No matter what I have to do.
If I break both of my legs then I will roll.

(shout) I’LL GET IT DONE!!!

Visiting Teaching Song

THE CALL
(tune: “Beautiful Dreamer”)

Visiting Teaching, calling divine,
Each month I go Lord, with my hand in mine.
Knowing thou will whisper each special need,
That I might serve with an unselfish deed.

Visiting Teaching, calling so clear,
Serving Thy children, my sisters so dear.
This be thy will Lord working through me.
Worthy and humble I pray I may be.

Visiting Teaching Song

TWO BY TWO
(tune: “Choose the Right,” Hymn 239)

Two by two, as we’re called to serve our sisters;
Two by two, we willingly say yes.
Two by two, we are grateful for this honor;
Eager to grow, we’ll serve in righteousness.

Two by two, two by two,
The Lord has work for us that we must do.
Two by two, me and you,
With love go forth to render service true.

Two by two we discuss each monthly lesson.
Two by two, we humbly kneel and pray.
Two by two, with the Holy Spirit prompting;
Prepared, then, we visit in the Lord’s own way.

Two by two, two by two,
The Lord has work for us that we must do.
Two by two, me and you,
With love go forth to render service true.

Two by two, as we go to see each sister;
Two by two, we learn to really share.
Two by two, we can tell how much we’re growing.
Visiting Teaching speaks a love so rare.

Two by two, two by two,
The Lord has work for us that we must do.
Two by two, me and you,
With love go forth to render service true.

Visiting Teaching Song

HELLO MY SISTER
(tune: “Hello My Baby”)

Hello my sister,
I thought I missed her.
How do you do today?
Tell you what we will do.
We’ll come and visit you.
If you refuse me
You’ll never lose me.
I won’t leave you alone.
So sister, telephone
And tell me you’ll be home.
Oh, please be home.

Visiting Teaching
Is about reaching
Each sister in the Ward.
Letting her know you care.
Leaving a message there.
If you refuse to
Then let me tell you
We’ll all feel really sad.
Oh sister, telephone
And you will feel so glad.
So very glad.

Now no sad sister
Because we missed her
A hundred percent we see.
[Stirling 1st] is the best. (replace with your Ward name)
If we’re not done, no rest.
We don’t refuse to
Each sister’s used to
Doing her own fair share.
Because we telephone
And tell them we’ll be there.
Yes we’ll be there.

Visiting Teaching Poem

“ASK YOURSELF”

Is Visiting Teaching simply a chore to get done?
Do we follow the Savior’s example of loving everyone?
Are excuses heard in your ward, ever?
Do we do visiting teaching as a sacred endeavor?

Were your lessons prepared with special care
In hopes that wisdom and love would be shared?
Were the scriptures studied diligently each day
So teaching was inspired in the Lord’s way?

Let’s make our calls early, so there will be time
To listen and teach in a manner sublime.
Let’s try to give service to meet sisters’ needs,
Even, baking and cleaning and other good deeds.

Greeting one another with hugs and smiles,
Will help each other endure sore trials.
Love for the Savior grows daily as all were taught,
And sweet were the changes in lives that were wrought.

Blessings for each sister were sought with prayer
That all in the ward would feel the Spirit there.
Sisters were strengthened and families, too
As they testified that the gospel is true.

Visiting Teaching Poem

“VISITING TEACHING”

LDS Visiting Teachers
Are called by Christ, the Lord,
To share their love for sisters
Who need His blest reward,

But more, to bless and nurture
Their sisters every day,
While helping them to be prepared
For what the scriptures say.

Their work and also service
Show forth their love for He
Who shared His own examples,
Then died on Calvary.

With Visiting Teachers teaching,
And sharing unfeigned love
With those they’re called to nurture,
As guided from above,

It’s bound to make a difference
For all eternity,
Because they’re helping Father,
His Royal Majesty,

To thus fulfill His mission
Of helping us to be
His noble sons and daughters
For all eternity.

Go forth in strength and courage,
Be all that you can be,
A loving Visiting Teacher,
Who’s filled with charity.

For “Charity Never Faileth,”
But blesses everyone
With light and life eternal,
Through God’s beloved Son.

The Lord has called each sister
To share His light divine,
With those whose light is flickering,
He’ll make their heart-light shine,

And help them come to realize
How precious that they are,
More precious than a world of gold,
And you will be their star.

Visiting Teaching Poem

“Their Lamps and Ours” If visiting teaching were easy, And no challenge presented itself, No problem with time, No mountains to climb, No juggling with spiritual health; Then where would the sacrifice come from, And the service, the faith, and the oil To fill lamps of our own To take back home, For refining the family soil?

Visiting Teaching Poem

‘Twas the Night before Christmas
(In the Sparks Second Ward)
‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the ward
Each sister was visited, each one in accord
With Heavenly Father’s plan for His daughters so sweet
To teach one another His kingdom to seek.

Calls were made early, so there would be time
To listen and teach in a manner sublime.
Service was given to meet sisters’ needs,
Even, baking and cleaning and other good deeds.

Lessons were prepared with special care
In hopes that wisdom and love would be shared.
Scriptures were studied with diligence each day,
So teaching was inspired in the Lord’s way.

Blessings for each sister were sought with prayer
That all in the ward would feel the Spirit there.
Sisters were strengthened and families, too
As they testified that the gospel is true.

Greeting one another with hugs and smiles,
They helped each other to endure sore trials.
Love for the Savior grew daily as all were taught,
And sweet were the changes in lives that were wrought.

Visiting teaching wasn’t simply a chore to get done.
They followed the Savior’s example of loving everyone.
Excuses were not heard in that ward, no never,
Because visiting teaching was a sacred endeavor.

When the day comes that we cross through the veil,
We’ll remember visiting teachers that helped us excel
In doing those things that will take us each home,
And, we will be heard to say, “I couldn’t have done it alone!”

Visiting Teaching Poem

“I’m Just a Visiting Teacher”
“I’m just a Visiting Teacher,”
I said to my friend today.
My Father in Heaven heard me,
And I seemed to hear Him say,

“Not just a Visiting Teacher,
A disciple with work to do,
And wherever you carry my message,
My Spirit goes with you.

“Some daughters of mine with burdens;
Some seem to have lost the way.
Go take them My love and gospel
To strengthen them day by day.

“Never say you’re just a Visiting Teacher.
Have faith and you’ll understand
When you enter a home with love and prayer –
I take you by the hand.”

Visiting Teaching Poem

“Good Intentions”

You know that card you didn’t get, last week when you were ill?
Well, it was I who didn’t send it, but I’m thinking of you still.

The day the telephone didn’t ring, it was I not calling you.
I knew you needed to talk awhile, but I had so much to do.

The visit that was never made, when you were feeling low,
That was I who didn’t come, but I thought about it, you know.

Please forgive me, friend of mine. This is what I am going to do.
I’ll turn my thoughts to actions, So you’ll know I care for you.
