Sample letter to give to less active families

Dear Brother Cahoon,

Do you know where I can find a sample letter to send to those inactive members that have said they want no one visiting their homes?

Bob Young Greeley, CO

Dear Brother Young,

There isn’t an “official” letter - if that is what you are looking for - that comes from the First Presidency and is endorsed by them. I have written letters like this in the past when I was an elders quorum president, but I’m not sure that I want to share them outside my own ward and stake. If you are looking for ideas on what to include, the First Presidency released a plea to less active members to “Come back and feast at the table of the Lord” in 1985.

Bearing down in “pure testimony”, even in a letter, is one thing that I did when I wrote letters to less active members. Pure testimony to me means bearing testimony of the love that our Father in Heaven has for each of His children. I hope this gives you some direction, and may the Lord bless you in your efforts to reach out to the “one.”
