Visiting Teaching Conference Idea 2

I just had our visiting teaching conference.

We did a Garden Party theme. We did not tell the sisters what we were doing. They just received an invitation for a Garden Party. We also had a visiting teaching skit. We had a sister speak that had been re-activated by Visiting teachers. We had a Salad Bar for the meal , using terra cotta pots line with foil to serve the salad fixings in. We used live green plants in the center of each table with miniature garden tools, bird houses, seed packets as decoration. We gave each sister a seed packet with a cute garden visiting teaching quote with a magnet on back for the fridge.

I am the Relief Society president. I closed with remarks about Alma 32:37-41. How that our Sisters need love and nurturing to help them blossom to their full potential. We had a special musical number about friends written By Michael McLean. It was a wonderful evening.

    Since I haven’t heard a reply, I thought I’d let you know how we’re structuring our program. As the vt coordinator I’m teaching a lesson in the beginning (after our salad bar dinner) about how has visiting teaching blessed your life and tieing it in with the garden theme. We’re having 3 mini classes to follow, one on nurturing testimonies through visiting teaching, one on cultivating friendship through visiting teaching, and one on blooming where you’re planted about accepting your stewardship and magnifying your calling as a vt. I’m also making a “farmer’s almanac”, a reference with info on being a visiting teacher and thoughts to inspire. It’s in a few weeks, so I can’t wait to see how it turns out!

    Could you please let me know what skit you used. And the message you put on the packet of seeds. I am getting ready to do our conference and I am doing it on bloom where you are planted and I think your garden theme may go along with it. Thanks
