At our last Visiting Teaching Workshop we went on the theme ‘but I will be thy servant’ found in Alma 17:25
After the opening exercises, we had the spiritual thought as Alma 17:25 read by the visiting teaching leader. Then the Relief Society President talked, doing a presentation on overhead projector showing the figures from the beginning of the year to present of Visiting Teaching to the total number of sisters in the ward. And going over what they would like to achieve in the way of Visiting Teaching (e.g. How they may contact all their sisters on their list during each three month period).
We then had the Young Women Presidency sing a musical item/hymn where they were then followed by our first counselor who taught a lesson on Ammon’s missionary experience with King Lamoni. As a returned missionary herself and giving us all a book of Mormon to read, we followed her right through Chapter 17 where she related Ammon’s missionary efforts to Visiting teaching.
We then had our Bishop speak, some of the points he mentioned were how we may better direct our efforts concerning our visiting teaching. The second counselor made a handout with lots of little things like a pin, cotton thread, glitter, etc each relating to motivate and encourage visiting teaching. Closing exercises, followed by finger food, punch and chicken soup (good too, it was a chili night).
